Your Answers to Common Photography Questions

How should I communicate with you?

You can visit my Contact Page to connect now. Once a deposit is received I will email you a newborn session prep, a questionnaire, and a contract. This will help me get to know your family. The best way to reach me is calling me at 989-430-7767. You may also text that number or e-mail me at jamie@jamie-lynn-photography.com. If you do not get a response through e-mail or text, please call. I am generally very responsive through e-mail and text, but these methods are not always reliable. If you don’t get an answer, please do not assume that I have received your message.

Can I have a family picture with my newborn?

If you purchase Heirloom or Premium packages, you have the option of a family picture with your newborn. The additional cost covers my time to pose your family members and also edit more people in the final images. You will also receive a larger quantity of final images than my newborn-only sessions. I ask that siblings leave after the family picture is done. For your convenience, I have complimentary passes to the Mount Pleasant Discovery Museum available.

How long do newborn sessions usually last? Who can I bring?

Newborn sessions can last up to 2-3 hours. The studio is very hot and small. When you purchase a newborn family photo— sibling and parent shots are included, however, I ask that if siblings come that they leave after their pictures are done as they can get hot and very antsy. I am open to most ideas and suggestions when it comes to your session, but will ultimately make the decision based on safety and how it will photograph.

When do you photograph babies? Which days and times?

I photograph newborns at 10 am Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Sometimes an early afternoon may be required. I do not photograph newborns on weekends. Please plan accordingly. The other sessions in your Baby’s First Year Package will last 30-60 minutes, depending on the baby.

What are the details for maternity sessions?

Maternity sessions typically take 1 hour and are only done outside. These are done while mom is 34-36 weeks pregnant. Spouses and siblings are welcome! Please read more details on my Maternity Page.

How do you deliver my images? Do I receive prints?

Please remember, your images ARE only delivered via digital download. I do not offer CDs or USB drives, unless the baby plan package is purchased. Please make sure you have access to a computer. You can’t save your images to your phone or tablet.

How do you choose your props and color schemes?

Please be aware that I use a lot of color in my images. Although I like a neutral image, most of my images will have pops of color in them. I have a studio full of props, headbands, hats, and outfits. I don’t recommend buying things online (such as from Etsy.com) as some things can be too big for newborns and some won’t photograph well. Please ask me before purchasing if you have something specific in mind. I have developed my own style for Jamie Lynn Photography, and remember, this is why you have entrusted me to photograph your precious baby!
